Founded in 2005 by Jessica Jackley and Matt Flannery, Kiva.org grew tremendously during the last 7 years. Kiva.org is a non-profit organization that leverages the Internet and helps entrepreneurs worldwide start and grow their own small businesses. The organization's mission is simple - connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Individuals willing to help entrepreneurs can lend as little as $25 - a small price of creating an opportunity to change people's lives.

Contributions

Since October of 2005, Kiva helped distribute over $23 million to entrepreneurs and small businesses around the world. Connecting individuals with students, entrepreneurs and small business owners in the US and around the world, Kiva has made a change in the lives of millions people.
