Currently her efforts are focused on entrepreneurs who march to the beat of their own drums: mompreneurs growing to a million, urban farmers, corporate employee turned tech founder, encore career small business owners and NYC efforts to #ChangetheRatio for women in tech. She is a big supporter of Women Innovate Mobile, Incubate NYC, Women2.0, NYC SBDCs, Women Presidents’ Educational Organization and Springboard.
Prior to this work, Karen-Michelle was the Director of Customer Advocacy Marketing at American Express OPEN, managing a variety of educational and outreach initiatives to help support the business growth of small business owners. She oversaw community-based marketing efforts and strategic partnerships with non-profit business associations that included Women Impacting Public Policy, Count Me In, SCORE, and Women President’s Organization.
Before American Express, Karen-Michelle was the Director of the NYC Business Solutions, Lower Manhattan Center, where she and her team helped businesses launch, access financing and recruit the right talent. Karen-Michelle was responsible for cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships with prominent local small business organizations such as Accion, Baruch SBDC, NAWBO NY, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and others. Karen-Michelle managed a client portfolio and developed and presented educational curriculum to help entrepreneurs grow.
