Alex Bard is the CEO of Salesforce Desk.com, an instant customer service help desk for small and medium sized businesses. Desk.com lets SMBs deliver personal customer service with a help desk that is social, mobile and simple to use and deploy. Bard was previously the CEO of Assistly, a startup acquired by salesforce.com in September 2011.
As a "numbers geek" Alex began his first real job on Wall Street. He quickly realized that creativity and imagination are not often rewarded when one starts a career on Wall Street. When Alex got the itch to leave, he was called on by a childhood friend to work on an "internet technology thing" and jumped at the opportunity. As a serial entrepreneur, Alex has been part of the founding team of four internet startups including eShare Technologies, eAssist Global Solutions, Goowy Media (acquired by AOL) and most recently Assistly (acquired by salesforce.com).
Contributions
Alex believes that in order to be successful one must truly be passionate about what he or she sets out to create. When developing Desk.com and Assistly, Alex merged his passion for technology with entrepreneurship and customer service. He and his team forecast the profound effect social media was going to have on customer service and decided to develop a product that would enable customers of all sizes to interact with their customers across multiple channels and in real time.
