James has been active in the accounting world for 15 years, with experience in both accounting product development and working directly with small business owners on their accounting. Prior to the launch of Wave, James led the technology and development team of one of Canada's most successful small business accounting firms.

James Lochrie co-founded Wave Accounting, working to liberate small business owners from back-office tasks, starting with the over 250,000 small business owners already signed up. With years of experience working with small business owners as a tax professional, he gained insights into the pain small business owner’s associate with tax time, and he’s made it his mission to solve that pain. Both Wave Accounting and Wave Payroll work to make managing back end tasks a manageable endeavor.

James is constantly inspiring his team to think outside the box; in terms of what could be instead of what already is. By maintaining a laser focus on small business owners, he ensures Wave Accounting continues to create tools that are changing the way small business owners operate, starting with the over 250,000 who’ve already signed up with Wave Accounting. When he’s not inspiring the growing number of employees at Wave, he’s devoting his time to his young family.
