While other jewelry companies spend tens of thousands on advertising in glossy magazines, Kiel James Patrick, makers of nautical-inspired jewelry and accessories, turned to Instagram to make a splash with its upwardly-mobile audience.

The company is run by fiance team Kiel James Patrick and Sarah Vickers, who, along with their handsome friends, fill their Instagram stream with shots of luxurious dinners, carefree sailing expeditions, and other preppy pictures that have attracted more than 129,000 followers on Instagram. The company rents out a luxury home, hosts a dinner with their friends, and takes plenty of shots, including those of the jewelry.

They've been so successful that Esquire asked them to handle the magazine’s Instagram feed during this year's Kentucky Derby.
